GET A FREE ESTIMATE →Remodeling a room means tearing out what was there and rebuilding it better. The drywall phase is the foundation everything else sits on — tile, paint, trim, cabinets. If the drywall is not done right, every trade that comes after it will have problems. At JCT Drywall, we treat remodeling work as seriously as new construction because the standards are exactly the same.
We handle drywall remodeling throughout Clearwater and Pinellas County for kitchens, bathrooms, living rooms, bedrooms, Florida rooms, and commercial spaces. Whether you are opening up walls to create an open floor plan, converting a space to a new use, or completely gutting and rebuilding a room, we manage the full drywall scope from start to finish.
The remodeling process typically begins with demolition — removing existing drywall cleanly and safely. We contain the work area to limit dust spread, remove all debris, and leave the framing exposed and ready. From there we assess the framing for any issues before hanging new board. We specify the correct drywall type for each application: standard, moisture-resistant, mold-resistant, or fire-rated depending on what the space requires.
Once hung, we tape all seams and corners, apply the appropriate number of compound coats, sand, and finish to the level the final surface treatment requires. If you are tiling over it, we prepare for that. If it is going to paint, we finish to a Level 4 standard — smooth, flat, and ready. We do not rush the dry time between coats. That is the most common place corners get cut, and it is exactly where you see the consequences six months later when seams start to show.
We work directly with homeowners, interior designers, and general contractors. We are happy to coordinate with other trades on your project and communicate on timeline so the remodel stays on schedule. Most of our remodeling work comes from repeat customers and referrals — that is the kind of quality we stand behind.

Common Questions
Frequently Asked Questions
Do you handle just the drywall, or the entire remodel?
We specialize in drywall only. That means demo, hang, tape, finish — everything up to a paint-ready wall. We do not do electrical, plumbing, tile, or painting. If you need referrals to trusted trades in Pinellas County, we are happy to help.
How long does a bathroom remodel drywall take?
A typical bathroom remodel — demo, hang moisture-resistant board, tape, and finish — takes two to four days depending on size and whether tile backing is involved. Full kitchen remodels with open walls generally take three to five days. We give you a timeline at the estimate.
What is the difference between regular drywall and moisture-resistant drywall?
Standard drywall uses paper facing and a gypsum core. Moisture-resistant drywall (greenboard) has a water-repellent coating that helps it handle humidity without breaking down. In bathrooms and kitchens we use the correct product for each area — greenboard in humid zones, cement board wherever tile meets water directly.
Can you match the existing texture in the rest of the house?
Yes. If you are remodeling one room in a house where other rooms have an existing texture, we match it. We carry the tools and materials to replicate orange peel, knockdown, skip trowel, and most other common Florida finishes.
